The Selangor Symphony Youth Orchestra presented "Symphony of Unity" on September 17th, 2024 (Tuesday) 4pm at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (Petronas Philharmonic Hall), honouring Malaysia Day and International Day of Peace, with choir members from SMK Kepong (Selangor), SJK (C) Serdang Baru 1, Hin Hua High School, and Estee Pook Academy.

"Outreach at RACTAR Orphanage Center"

Music plays a crucial role in our lives and eliminates differences among various cultures and generations. In SSYO we believe our mission is to educate, enrich and instill a lifelong love of music in future generations of musicians, to further this goal, we offer outreach events for the underprivileged orgnaizations.
On March 14th, our members Jaemin, Jaylea, and Nicholas shared their insights with the elementary violinists of RACTAR. It's wonderful to see their bonding was evident and strong, with many smiles
Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah or RACTAR for short, opened its doors since 1993, is a home for orphans and underprivileged girls of all races from all over Malaysia. It is named after the late Tengku Ampuan of Selangor and is located in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
"Year-End Grand Concert"

Presenting you our Year-End Grand Concert performed by one of the premiere youth orchestras in Malaysia - the Selangor Symphony Youth Orchestra (SSYO). This concert also featured 4 violin soloists from the members of the orchestra, in which each soloist performed a movement of the all-time-favourite Four Seasons Violin Concerto by Vivaldi.
Event Opening for DESTAR Event Hall

SSYO had the privilege to perform for His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin for the opening of DESTAR event hall. DESTAR event hall is to help generate funding for RACTAR (Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah) orphanage center. The event also featured the amazing RACTAR choir and vocalist Syakirah Noble. We are thankful for RACTAR's patron Tengku Zehan for showcasing our local talents.
Music Camp & Retreat in Melaka
20 - 21 August, 2022
A weekend camp and retreat (August 20 - 21) in Melaka was enriching as we were able to experience a sense of community and belonging among our members and parents. In this trip we also paid a visit to the Melaka Youth String Orchestra (MYSO) where we had a side-by-side rehearsal and concert with them, the experience and friendships we made with MYSO were invaluable. We want to thank the committee of MYSO for their heartwarming hospitality for arranging all the little things for us, making the whole trip a truly unforgettable experience for us.

Virtual Conducting Workshop

"Introductory Workshop for Conductors" has been successfully completed. Congratulations to all 17 participants for completing all 5 classes in 4 weeks in June 2020. There were many valuable topics covered during the workshop taught in group and individual sessions. We must thank our teachers/conductors Mr Kevin Field, Professor Harry Spence Lyth, and Mr Eugene Pook for dedicating their time to share their expertise. We wish all participants the best in their musical endeavour and we will certainly be in touch with you and hope to see you all soon again!

It brings back perspective to life... to take a pause in life and celebrate life as it is, not as what it should be; giving is a privilege. Get A Taste Of Orchestra Instruments
18th & 24th August 2019
The 2-day free trial on orchestra instruments attracted more than 50 children who came to experience what it’s like to hold real orchestral instruments! During the 2-hour session, children (and their parents too!) had the opportunities to try out various brass, woodwind, and string instruments, and to discover their interest and unleash their talent. During the session, our passionate musicians demonstrated the sound and character of their instruments, our teachers talked about the importance of ensemble participation and how it can benefit young children and also what it’s like to be a professional musician. The afternoon ended with Q & A session. We thank The Saxophone Store for providing winds instruments for the events.
Opening performance at the Hong Kong International Music Festival

Our recent performance for the opening ceremony of the 2019 Award & Concert Preliminary Round of Hong Kong International Music Festival held at Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park held on 3 August 2019. Performed by the the youth orchestra members and students and staff of Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park and guest players...and conducted by CAPTAIN AMERICA!
